Sharp R-820Bk 900-Watt 0.9 Cubic Foot Convection Microwave, Black Review

I just purchased this Sharp convection microwave. I am slowly reading the manual and cooking a variety of foods in an attempt to learn the features and maximize my use of this. I cannot begin to explain how WOW’d my husband and I are. I made some Cream of Wheat in it for breakfast. No boil-over like we had with every previous microwave. TV dinners–I love that I can program a series of cooking instructions (like 5 min at 100% power followed by 4 1/2 min at 50% power), and my husband raved at no burnt edges, no dried out areas; it was just evenly and nicely cooked without the usual microwave problems. lol, my husband is sitting behind me and spontaneously said, ‘Gosh darn, I sure love that microwave! We can do all kinds of things in it…I can’t wait to try a pizza.!’

Why ‘with my fingers crossed?’ I am leery that what some others report about problems will be not true. I hope I can get 18 – 24 months out of my new microwave, but only time will tell. You can buy Cheap Sharp R-820Bk 900-Watt 0.9 Cubic Foot Convection Microwave, Black Online!

Sharp R-930CS 1-1/2-Cubic-Foot 900-Watt Convection Microwave, Stainless Customer Review

Initially I bought my first convection microwave because I had a less than wonderful built-in oven which had cold spots and hot spots. Nothing ever seemed to turn out right and I figured a combo unit would be a good work around. Almost immediately, I realized the convection feature was the greatest thing since the wheel. The results were so good that I stopped using my conventional oven entirely. Since then I have bought two other combo units. I’ve had this model since 2008.
While my old built-in conventional oven has been replaced with an oven that has a convection feature and I use it when I am making large meals and love it, this is the oven I use daily.
It is large so I can make most daily meals in it. Convection ovens use forced air to cook evenly. Foods cooked by convection tend to not dry out. Whether roasting meat or baking a cake, the results are uniformly good. The same can be said of the broiling feature which makes clean-up a snap.
I use the microwave to warm leftovers, cook bacon, melt butter, defrost meat, steam vegetables and do anything else that can be satisfactorily done via microwave.
The smart cook feature is totally wicked. All you have to do is hit a button indicating what type of food you want to cook and the oven cooks it and shuts down automatically. A previous reviewer raved about how it does frozen hot dogs…..so true. It works great on sausage links and frozen pizzas, too.
Clean-up is equally easy. Wet wipes,a damp paper towel, or a towel dipped in diluted DAWN will get the job done with minimal effort. I clean the oven’s stainless exterior with stainless polish.
Years ago combo units were plentiful. Most manufacturers produced them. There are fewer models like these made today. I was extremely happy to find out that Sharp still made a combo unit. It’s the best one I’ve owned because it has a lot of easy cooking features and is well made.
